WKU Men’s Basketball fell to the Missouri State Bears 87-74 Thursday, snapping its six-game win streak.
The Hilltoppers’ offense could not find any momentum, being held to 43% from the floor and 15.4% from three. The 43% was the worst shooting performance for WKU in their last seven games.
Despite the loss, redshirt sophomore Teagan Moore continues to impress, finishing the night with 23 points. Senior forward Grant Newell was the only other Hilltopper to finish with double figures, finishing the game with 13 points.
Early foul trouble for WKU doomed them, with three players having two or more fouls in the first half. Senior guard Terrion Murdix and Moore were limited after starting the game, playing just 12 and 11 minutes in the first half.
Missouri State was able to take advantage of the Hilltoppers’ foul trouble, finishing the night shooting 51.9% from the floor with four players finishing the night in double figures.
WKU could not find the bottom of the net in the first half, shooting 44% from the floor, with Moore on the bench. The Bears took advantage, going on a 14-6 run to take a 43-38 lead going into halftime, and did not look back.
With the loss, WKU falls to 18-12 and 11-8 in conference play. The loss also closes the door on the Hilltoppers’ chances of earning the second seed in the Conference USA tournament.
The Hilltoppers look to get back in the win column in their regular-season finale against FIU Saturday afternoon.
