WKU Men’s Basketball heads to Huntsville, Alabama for the Conference USA tournament Thursday night for a quarterfinal matchup against the Kennesaw State Owls.
The Hilltoppers finished the regular season 18-13 and 11-9 in CUSA, good for the third seed in the tournament.
WKU is led by four double-digit scorers. Redshirt sophomore guard Teagan Moore and senior forward Grant Newell lead the Hilltoppers with 18.4 and 12.9 points per game, respectively.
Moore was named All-CUSA first team and Newell earned All-CUSA honorable mention. Freshman guard Armelo Boone was named to the All-CUSA All-Freshman team.
The Hilltoppers ended the regular season on a two-game losing streak, falling to Missouri State 87-74 and FIU 92-67.
“I think we have proved we can play and beat anybody, but we have also proved if we are not at our best that we can struggle,” Head Coach Hank Plona said.
Kennesaw State finished the regular season 18-13 and 10-10 in CUSA. The Owls finished well for the six seed.
Much like the Hilltoppers, the Owls finished the regular season on a two-game losing streak. Kennesaw State is led by senior guard Simeon Cottle, averaging 20.2 points per game.
The Hilltoppers and Owls met twice during the regular season, where Kennesaw State bested WKU both times.
“I think every game is individually itself. I think both of us have talented teams, when we are sharp we play loose and free,” Plona said.
Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
