WKU History’s annual Harrison lecture on Thursday will feature Rabia Belt, a historian at Stanford Law School.
Belt, an advocate for people with disabilities and a former councilmember to the National Council on Disability under former President Barack Obama, will “Explore the disenfranchisement of civil war veterans,” Brielle Freeman, administration communication and outreach coordinator for the English, History, and Modern Language departments at WKU, said.
The lecture will take place at 5 p.m. in the Gary Ransdell Hall auditorium and focus on how disabilities affect views of citizenship in the United States.
The lecture is open admission for all members of the community and free to enter, Freeman said.
“This seems like a good moment to have a conversation about voting rights,” Freeman said. “We would love to invite community members, alumni, and the public to our annual Harrison Lecture.”
