The Bowling Green Board of Commissioners appointed several city employees Thursday at a specially-called meeting.
The board appointed the athletics coordinator and parks facility maintainer I positions in the parks and recreation department. The board also selected or reappointed members of historic preservation board, urban growth design review board and the Hobson House Commission.
The Police Academy of Bowling Green also promoted a class of 15 to the rank of officer, so they can begin their 23-week journey to becoming official members of the department.
Mayor Todd Alcott congratulated the class and commended their dedication. He said it was a “big day” for BGPD.
The board also approved applications that the city will submit for multiple grants, including the housing choice voucher program and justice assistance grants. The housing choice voucher program assists families in need with rent payments, and the justice assistance grant aids the city in providing law enforcement with equipment and other resources.
The city is also applying for $100,000 in state funding to help fix a recently opened sinkhole near the intersection of Cambridge Drive and Grinstead Way.
The sinkhole is not a major cause for concern, but the extra funding would help the city apply a more permanent fix to the site, City Manager Jeff Meisel said.
The full agenda for this meeting can be found here.
