WKU Softball wraps up its four-game road trip with a trip to Evansville Wednesday evening, its last midweek matchup of the 2026 season.
The Hilltoppers hold a 29-10 overall and a 12-6 Conference USA record after dropping two games to Liberty last weekend. WKU now sits in third place among CUSA opponents behind Jacksonville State and Liberty.
The Hilltopper offense struggled to capitalize against the Lady Flames. Over the weekend, WKU outhit Liberty 25-15, yet only scored eight runs. During game two on Saturday, the Hilltoppers were shut out.
WKU prevented the series sweep with an uplifting 6-2 win on Sunday. During that victory, freshman catcher Lauren Satterly hit the second home run of her collegiate career, which tied the WKU Softball program’s all-time single-season home run record (50). With three more weeks of the season, the Hilltoppers have the opportunity to surpass that record.
Sophomore Erica Houge and junior Rylan Smith split the time in the circle last weekend. The duo allowed 15 hits and nine runs while walking 16 and striking out five.
As a team, WKU still leads CUSA in batting average (.338) and ERA (2.65).
Evansville holds a 16-20 overall and a 9-9 Missouri Valley Conference record. The Purple Aces were just swept in a doubleheader last Tuesday night by MVC opponent Southern Illinois.
At the plate, Evansville is led by junior Niki Bode. The infielder leads the Purple Aces in batting average (.396), slugging percentage (.604) and doubles (14).
In the circle, sophomore Kate Ridgway leads Evansville with a 3.93 ERA and a .225 opposing batting average.
WKU holds a 14-9-1 all-time record against Evansville, but the Purple Aces are 7-4 against the Hilltoppers when playing at home. WKU most recently defeated Evansville 5-4 in March of 2025.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
