WKU Softball travels to Newark to face Conference USA newcomer Delaware for the last conference series of the 2026 regular season.
The Hilltoppers are coming off a home series sweep over Kennesaw State last weekend, during which they broke the program records for single-season runs (291 and counting) and home record (26-1).
Freshman catcher Lauren Satterly was named CUSA Freshman of the Week for her performance during the KSU sweep. Over the weekend, she went 4-7 at the plate with four RBIs. On the season, she’s hitting .345 and has collected 14 RBIs.
Senior right-hander Maddy Wood was honored for Senior Day on Sunday. In game two, she pitched for the first time in over a month because of an undisclosed injury. She allowed three hits and struck out one, which was her 100th career strikeout.
WKU ranks second in CUSA with an 18-6 conference record and a 36-10 overall record.
The Hilltoppers enter the last weekend of the regular season leading CUSA in team batting average (.339) and team ERA (2.53).Â
Delaware is tied with New Mexico State and Liberty for third place in CUSA at 15-9 and 28-21 overall. The Blue Hens are coming off a series loss at the hands of NMSU last weekend.
Freshman outfielder Allie Nankivell and senior catcher Sydney Shaffer lead Delaware’s offense. Nankivell ranks fourth in CUSA in batting average (.407) and leads the Blue Hens in stolen bases (18). Shaffer leads Delaware in RBIs (43) and home runs (15).
WKU has faced Delaware just once before. In the lone matchup in Feb. 2023, the Hilltoppers took a 6-2 victory.Â
