The position of WKU executive director for the Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX coordinator has been filled by Ena Demir after a search for suitable candidates that began in April.

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Bud Fischer announced the new staff member in an email to faculty and staff on July 5.

WKU’s search to fill the executive director position for the new Office of Institutional Equity, as well as the position of Title IX coordinator, was announced in April.

The termination of Deborah Wilkins last November led to General Counsel Andrea Anderson holding the Title IX coordinator position in interim, leading the search for a new suitable candidate to continue through the summer.

Demir previously worked as an attorney and director for Kerrick-Bachert, PSC. and was selected after a national search yielded excellent candidates for the position, according to Fischer. She will begin as the executive director for the Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX coordinator on July 11.

Ms. Demir’s advanced understanding of equity work, her background in post-secondary education and employment law and her experience with policy make her an excellent addition to Western Kentucky University,” Fischer stated in the email.
