The WKU Jazz Band will host a performance titled “WKU Jazz Band Plays The Beatles” at 7:30 on Friday, April 7.

The concert will be full of big band arrangements of classic Beatles songs, including “Blackbird,” “Here Comes the Sun” and “Eleanor Rigby,” Sarah Herbert, assistant music professor, said.

Herbert said the band consists of “a 20 piece jazz ensemble including trumpets, trombones, saxophones and a full rhythm section.”

The WKU jazz band is open to music majors and minors, as well as non-majors or minors who play an instrument at a high level, Herbert said.

Herbert said that students have been working towards this performance for about three weeks.

“It will be a fun concert featuring music that is well loved by generations and provide a new twist to hear the Beatles performed by this type of ensemble,” Herbert said.

The concert will be held in the DSU auditorium, where tickets will be sold at the door for $5.
