WKU Softball will host Jacksonville State University for its last Conference USA series of the season.
The Hilltoppers won their last two CUSA series, sweeping New Mexico State April 17-19 and securing two games against Florida International April 25-27. WKU remains in fourth in CUSA standings with its 12-10-1 conference record.
For the second time this season, two Hilltoppers were named CUSA Players of the Week. Sophomore shortstop Morgan Sharpe, who hit .533 through her last four outings, and freshman pitcher Erica Houge, who pitched seven innings in the Hilltopper shutout victory over UofL, were recognized.
JSU won each of its last three CUSA series, sweeping two. The Gamecocks, winners of six straight games, are second in the CUSA standings at 15-9.
JSU ranks second in CUSA in batting with a .313 average and leads the conference in RBIs with 292. Sophomore outfielder Emma Elroad is on the conference leaderboard in nearly every offensive category. She is fourth in batting average (.387), first in runs scored (50), first in hits (70) and tied for seventh in home runs (12).
The Gamecocks’ 2.83 ERA is second in CUSA. Senior pitcher Kat Carter is third in ERA (2.45), sixth in opposing batting average (.233) and sixth in batters struck out (86) in CUSA.
The series will begin Friday at 6 p.m., continuing on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
