WKU Women’s Golf will continue its remarkable season with a historic first NCAA Regional appearance in Lexington, Kentucky, May 5-7.
“I think it’s really cool being so close. We can kind of have a home field advantage,” junior Sydney Hackett said. “We can get a lot of friends and family coming out.”
The Lady Toppers took home the Conference USA tournament title on April 16, securing an at-large bid. Hackett took home the CUSA individual title.
Hackett, senior Catie Craig, freshman Kaylee Dwyer, junior Averi Cline and sophomore Julia Zigrossi will start for the Lady Toppers in Lexington.
WKU will face stiff competition in the regional, taking on No. 1 Florida State and in-state rival No. 8 Louisville. The Lady Toppers have already proven their strength, securing an 11-stroke win over Vanderbilt at the Tennessee Spring Challenge on April 7 and a two-shot advantage over UL at the Cardinal Cup in Louisville, Sept. 13-15.
A top-five finish in the Regional would advance the Lady Toppers to the National Championship on May 16-21.
