WKU Lady Topper Golf traveled to Lexington, Kentucky in their first-ever Regional appearance in school history May 5-7.
Despite their historic season, the Lady Toppers fell short of competing for a national championship, finishing 10th out of 12.
Day One
Sophomore Julia Zigrossi led the way for the Lady Toppers on day one, shooting a career-best three under 69.
Zigrossi was the only player to shoot under par, followed by senior Katie Craig shooting par. The rest of the team shot over par.
The Lady Toppers struggled as a team, shooting nine over par, which landed them eighth going into day two.
Florida State finished day one in first, shooting seven under par.
Day Two
The Lady Toppers struggled on day two, dropping to 11th at the end of the day.
Junior Avery Cline stepped up, leading the Lady Toppers by shooting one over par. After a career day one, Zigrossi finished four over par.
Conference USA individual champion junior Sydney Hackett struggled, shooting five over par, for a total of eight over par for both days.
Florida State and Georgia Southern stayed atop the regional at one and two, respectively.
Day Three
WKU looked to gain ground going into the third and final day of Regionals.
Day three was the best day for the Lady Toppers, with three golfers shooting under par.
Hackett led the way at six under par, a career best. Craig and Cline joined Hackett, shooting two and one under par, respectively.
With three under-par performances, the Lady Toppers took over the 10th spot, passing Morehead State, where they ultimately finished the Regionals.
With the 10th-place finish, the Lady Toppers close out their historic year.
