Just three days after a 48-point win over KSU, WKU Women’s Basketball heads to Virginia to take on the Longwood Lancers.
The Lancers are coming off a 121-35 win over Randolph College. Sophomore guard Olivia Bowes led the team with 21 points; however, three other Lancers had at least 13.
As a team, Longwood shot 13-28 from beyond the arc, 47-87 from the floor. WKU, against KSU, shot 28-58 from the floor and 10-25 from three.
Head Coach Greg Collins said the Lancers are much more “aggressive” than any other team they’ve faced, calling their first road matchup a “good test” in his KSU postgame press conference.
Redshirt sophomore forward Tatum Boettjer, who medically redshirted her sophomore season, led the Hilltoppers in her first start for the team. She scored a team-leading 18 points, shooting 6-10.
42 of WKU’s 81 points came off the bench, with three players scoring double digits despite not being in the starting lineup. Senior forward Jennifer Silva led the bench players with 13 points while also collecting four rebounds.
WKU will look to replicate its fast start against KSU. The Lady Toppers went 16-0 to open regulation and never took their foot off the gas, winning 81-33.
The Lady Toppers have had at least 20 turnovers in both matchups, 22 against KSU and 25 against Lindsey Wilson.
“We’re averaging 20 plus turnovers, and that’s not how you win,” Collins said. “We’ve got to take care of the ball.”
Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. Nov. 8 and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
