Residents of Munday Hall filed out of their dorms Tuesday morning due to leaking water in Munday’s lobby.
Alarms warned residents of Munday Hall to evacuate the dorms around 11 a.m. because of a burst sprinkler line on the third-floor common area of Munday Hall, Catherine LaRoche, assistant vice president of student engagement and executive director for housing and residence life, said.
LaRoche said freezing temperatures caused the burst, and said no student’s rooms “sustained water damage.”
Students relocated to Downing Student Union while the issue was resolved. Students were allowed back into Munday less than an hour after the evacuation, after troubleshooting from Facilities Maintenance.
The Lobby and common areas of Munday were equipped with fans and vacuums to dry the excess water left behind in highly trafficked areas of the dorm hall.
