Acting Provost Cheryl Stevens announced a new dean has been appointed to the College of Health and Human Services in an email to faculty and staff Wednesday.

Tania Basta, who is currently serving at Ohio University in Athens, will be the next dean. She is currently a professor of social and public health currently serving as the chair of the Department of Social and Public Health at Ohio University in Athens. She will be replacing interim Dean Dennis George on July 1.

George was the former dean of the now-dismantled University College.

“I am grateful to the CHHS Dean Search Committee chaired by Dr. Larry Snyder for their hard work and diligence throughout this process,” Stevens wrote. “Dr. Basta is an excellent choice for the CHHS Deanship, and she is very excited about joining WKU.”
