This morning, President Caboni posted the following video to his twitter, showing him getting in his car and driving while Cage the Elephant’s “No Rest for the Wicked” played in the background.

Cage The Elephant replied within the hour.

Caboni wrote back, inviting them to perform at a football game.

Since the tweets, Caboni has confirmed during a meeting with Herald staff that Cage the Elephant will perform for the first home football game against Maine on Sept. 8.

“[Cage the Elephant] are huge fans of Western Kentucky University and also of Bowling Green and we’re really thankful of them and their support and their partnership. It’s going to be a heck of a first game.” Caboni said.

Fans with tickets to the game and WKU students with a valid student ID will get free admission into the event, according to a press release from WKU athletics. Additional details will be released the week of the game.

Cage the Elephant, a Grammy-award winning rock band, formed in Bowling Green in 2006. “No Rest for the Wicked” was their first big hit. They have previously indicated a desire to perform on campus, and attended a WKU Football game last semester.
