Ryan Thurston signs contract with Toronto Blue Jays

Former Hilltopper Ryan Thurston has signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to WKU athletics. 

The left-handed pitcher left the Hill ranked second in program history in strikeouts (299), third in games started (52) and fifth in innings pitched (306.2).

After his signing Sunday, Thurston will report to the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays in Dunedin, Florida. 

Thurston posted an ERA of 4.24 in his senior season, as he pitched 80.2 innings and was the Friday starter for the Hilltoppers all season. 

Thurston is the 109th player in program history to sign a professional contract.
