Changes come for Potter College of Arts and Letters

There will be several changes in department leadership within the Potter College of Arts and Letters.

Scott Lasley, political science professor, will be the new head of the Political Science department. Lasley is replacing Saundra Ardrey who served 17 years in the position. 

Ardry was one of two professors to teach abroad for a year through the Fulbright program. She will spend the next school year teaching, creating curriculum and conducting research at the University of Limpopo in South Africa.

Darlene Applegate, folk studies and anthropology professor, will replace Michael Ann Williams as head of the Folk Studies and Anthropology department. Williams started teaching in 1986 and became department head in 2004 and is entering transitional retirement. 

Jeffrey Samuels, religion professor is the new interim head of the Philosophy and Religion department. The previous department head, Eric Bain-Selbo was named the new dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Indiana University-Kokomo.

The changes will go into effect July 1.
