Mattox named to Capitol One Academic All-District Team

WKU senior outfielder Kelsie Mattox was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team Thursday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Mattox is set two graduate later this month with a cumulative GPA of 3.80 on a 4.0 scale with a double major in political science and sociology with a minor in criminology.

She is a first-time member of this award and will be included on the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where the first-, second-, and third-team All-American teams will be decided later.

She has started every game this year for the Lady Toppers and is first on the team in walks, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage and second in doubles and RBI’s. She has also a been selected to the All-Sun Belt Conference team twice and has been named to the Conference Commissioner’s List multiple times.

The Academic All-District Softball teams are to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their performance for on and off the field. To be considered for this award, the student must has a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and be considered at least a sophomore both athletically and academically.

Mattox and the rest of the Lady Toppers will be back in action this weekend as they close out the regular season with a series against Georgia State.
