For the first time in school history, the WKU women’s track and field team has entered the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 25, coming in at No. 22 in this week’s national ranking.

WKU has six marks in the top 30 in the NCAA that include Jessica Ramsey’s shot put mark of 57’ 4.75 (17.49m) for third nationally, France Makabu and Ana Camargo’s triple jump lead of 43’3 (13.18m) for a fifth rank nationally, and freshman sprinter Carrol Hardy’s 23rd NCAA rank in the 100-meter dash at 11.41 seconds.

Ramsey won two of WKU’s seven wins at the Arkansas State open last weekend, highlighted by her school record discus throw of 176’ 8” (16.98m). She also won the shot put, heaving 55-feet-8-inches.

The track and field team will participate in the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 8-10 in San Marcos, Texas.
