It’s the second week in a row a WKU player has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.

After junior catcher Devin Kelly won the honor on April 23, senior right fielder Ryan Hutchison was named the league’s player of the week on Monday.

Hutchison went 9-for-19 with a team-high eight RBIs and two home runs in the Toppers’ four games last week.

Over the weekend he was 7-for-14 while picking up six RBIs.

Hutchison is in the middle of a seven-game hitting streak during which he has posted a batting average of .516.

Hutchison and Kelly’s awards are the first time WKU has won the honors in back-to-back weeks since 2009.

Junior right-hander Taylor Haydel was named Pitcher of the Week on April 2.
