Hilltoppers wrap up second day of action at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

WKU Men’s Golf wrapped up its second day of competition at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Monday at the Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana.

Freshman Riley Grindstaff pulled in the team’s lowest score of the day, shooting a 1-under 71. The Franklin, Tennessee native collected four birdies throughout the second round of competition to climb to 18th on the leaderboard, only two shots back from a top 10 spot.

Fifth-year senior Jack Poole shot a 4-over 75. Poole eagled the last hole of his front nine and birdied on his 18th hole.

Freshman Elliot Pope outperformed his first-round score by three strokes, shooting a 4-over 76 in Monday’s round.

Junior Luke Fuller and freshman Stephen Warren both turned in 5-over 77’s. Warren is tied for 68th whereas Fuller is tied for the 76th spot.

The Hilltoppers shot 11-over 299 as a unit on Monday to total 19-over 595 through 36 holes. WKU is currently in 17th place with another 18 holes left to play in the tournament.

WKU returns to the golf course tomorrow to tee off the final day of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
