The Bowling Green Fire Department on Wednesday, Aug. 17, responded to a call regarding a floor collapse at a Sigma Phi Epsilon off-campus event at 1340 State Street.

Per Andrew Rash, associate director of student activities and Greek life at WKU and Charley Pride, director of student activities, organizations and leadership, there were no reported injuries.

A strip of police tape has been placed on the house’s front porch and a notice from the city of Bowling Green has been put on the door with a check mark signifying the house is “unsafe.”

The property is owned by Walk2Campus, an independent company that rents properties near WKU that has been in operation since 2004.

Walk2Campus declined to comment on the floor collapse as it was a matter between the tenants and owners, according to Brad Hastings, chief operating officer for Walk2Campus.

Rash said the Sigma Phi Epsilon president, Jacob Lassiter, called him the night it happened to let him know that there were no injuries.

Rash said he is not sure on the cost or timeline of repairs as that is between the tenants and owners. Rash said it was being looked into by the “appropriate people.”

Lassiter has been approached for a statement through email and social media, but the Herald has not received comment prior to publication.
