WKU’s Student Government Association held its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

President Cole Bornefeld announced his nominations for vacant cabinet and senate positions and current senators had the chance to question the nominees before voting.

All candidates were voted into office, including Juan Thomas, Will Hemenover and Sydney Denney as senators-at-large, Aniya Johnson as director of information technology, Donte’ Reed as director of enrollment and student experience and Isaac Kind and Garrett Baum as judicial council.

Following the elections, Administrative Vice President Sam Kurtz spoke on the budget and Public Relations Director Preston Romanov spoke on his plans to increase SGA’s social media engagement. This includes promoting SGA Tik Tok, Linktree and Instagram accounts.

The SGA senator retreat is set for Sept. 24, and the tentative date for freshman elections is Sept. 13-14.

Chief Justice Holden Schroeder finished out the meeting by swearing in all new members.
