WKU Women’s Basketball defeats FAU

WKU Women’s Basketball (8-8) defeated Florida Atlantic University Owls (10-6) on Monday, Jan. 16 in Boca Raton, Florida. This was the Lady Toppers fourth straight win.

WKU dominated, shooting 54.7% in field goals. The Hilltoppers also went 9-19 for three pointers. As a team, WKU shot 64.3% from free throws compared to FAU’s 86.7%. Additionally, the Lady Toppers totaled 28 rebounds in the game.

Leading the team in points with 17, was junior guard Teresa Faustino. Faustino was tied for game leader in points with FAU’s junior guard Jada Moore. Sophomore guard Alexis Mead was another leader on the team in points, grabbing 16 against the Owls while playing 36 minutes total.

Sophomore forward Jaylin Foster was also a standout player in the contest with 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Also playing a strong game, sophomore guard Mya Meredith obtained six rebounds and eight points. Freshman guard Acacia Hayes secured four assists in the game to help lead WKU to their victory.

WKU ultimately won the game 76-66. The Hilltoppers will return to E.A Diddle Arena Jan. 19 to face Louisiana Tech University.
