Some WKU buildings experienced power outages at approximately 11:15 a.m. today, with power only flickering in some locations and staying off in others.

According to WKU facilities management, WKU is not responsible for the outages, and they are under the control of Bowling Green Municipal Utilities.

BGMU said the issue was an equipment failure at the forest drive substation that feeds into WKU. The equipment failure took place from 10:55 to 11:35 a.m. and has since been restored.

The WKU Restaurant Group stated some dining locations have temporarily lost power and are currently offline.

Jace Lux, director of media relations and university spokesperson, stated power has been restored and the outages should not affect the university schedule.

“Today, part of campus experienced a temporary disruption in power,” Lux stated via email. “Power has been restored to affected buildings and the outage should cause no changes to today’s schedule.”
