Reports of shots fired on Bookstore Way behind Lungdam Market and the Textbook Depot near the Registry were shared in an alert by the WKU PD at 4:03 p.m. but was cleared shortly after.

“Area is now clear and safe, police and EMS on scene. No active threat for the campus area,” a following WKUPD alert sent at 4:17 p.m.

Officers working at the scene were unable to comment.

Ronnie Ward, Bowling Green Police Department public information officers said “absolutely nothing” happened. Ward said a person had called and reported shots fired but none were found at the scene.

Melissa Bailey, WKUPD public information officer was contacted via phone at 4:05 p.m. but did not respond in time for publication.
