Lady Toppers fall to Missouri State

WKU Women’s Basketball fell to Missouri State University 69-68 on Dec. 21 in Springfield, Missouri moving the Hilltoppers to 8-6 on the season.

Both the Lady Toppers and Bears shot 41% from the field. However, WKU shot 69% from the free throw line compared to MSU’s 80%. WKU acquired 25 rebounds and gave up 16 turnovers.

Senior guard Destiny Salary, senior guard Teresa Faustino, senior forward Odeth Betancourt, junior guard Alexis Mead and sophomore guard Acacia Hayers started for the Hilltoppers.

Hayes had the most time on the court of any Lady Topper, playing a total of 37 minutes. She also led WKU in points with 23, shooting 7-13. 

Salary was also a strong player in the match, posting 17 points and two rebounds. Additionally, sophomore guard Karris Allen grabbed seven rebounds in the game.

WKU currently sits third in Conference USA behind Florida International University and Middle Tennessee State University.

WKU will continue their season against West Virginia State on Dec. 29 at 6:30p.m. CST in E.A. Diddle Arena.
