As WKU Men’s Basketball goes on the road to face Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State this weekend, they’ll be traveling without sophomore guard Jack Edelen.
Edelen was arrested early Sunday morning for operating a motor vehicle under the influence and for failing to provide insurance.
“I don’t think that decision and mistake is resembling who Jack is as a person so we’ll support him through this,” Head Coach Hank Plona said. “We will continue to handle it internally and we’ll determine it from there.”
The Hilltoppers are already stretched thin at guard due to freshman standout guard Julius Thedford’s knee injury he suffered on Jan. 18 against Middle Tennesee State.
Edelen picked up some slack in the games after Thedford’s injury, averaging 15 minutes after averaging just 10 minutes beforehand.
Edelen averages 12 minutes and 2.7 points per game. In his place, Plona said senior guard Jaylen Dorsey is expected to get elevated minutes.
“Dorsey is more than ready to play and obviously has played some minutes the last couple of games,” Plona said.
Dorsey played seven minutes in WKU’s last game against New Mexico State and hit a three in that time. Dorsey has only played in eight of the Hilltoppers’ 22 games, averaging three minutes among those outings.
