People voiced their opinions on the steps of Cherry Hall following WKU’s unveiling of plans to renovate the historic building.
Renderings released Thursday outlined drastic changes to the building’s interior, drawing mixed reactions from the campus community.
Some students support the changes, including Kai Micatrotto, a high school senior taking WKU classes.
“If we have the money, why not?” Micratto said.
Other students disagreed.
Freshman Anna Lomdell said she likes the “classic” feel to campus and feels the changes would ruin the integrity of the campus atmosphere.
“I think the minute you start turning these historic and classic buildings into modern and technological buildings, it takes away from the classical feel,” Lomdell said. “With this being the oldest building on campus, there’s a certain history to it that you just can’t erase.”
Renovations are set to begin this summer and are expected to finish in 2027.
