WKU School of Media and Communication will host journalists Becca Andrews and John Archibald on Thursday in the Jody Richards Hall auditorium at 6 p.m. for a discussion about their podcast “American Shrapnel.”
“American Shrapnel” is an eight-part series about Eric Rudolph, who committed a series of bombings across the South in the U.S. between 1996 and 1998, and how he was able to get away with it for years until the FBI finally arrested him on May 31, 2003.
Andrews and Archibald spent three years reporting and interviewing victims and eyewitnesses. They also explored possible ideologies that could have radicalized Eric, according to al.com.
Andrews, a graduate of UC Berkeley’s School of Journalism, is an award-winning journalist and professor at WKU known for her reporting on reproductive rights and gender issues. Her work has appeared in Wired, Jezebel, and The New Republic, according to becca-andrews.com.
Archibald is a journalist recognized for his work in local reporting, earning the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for commentary and the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting and multiple other journalism awards, such as the Sidney Hillman Award, the George Polk Award, and the Best-in-Show National Headliner Award. He writes a column that focuses on various political and societal issues, contributing to public discourse in these areas, according to al.com.
