Martin Cohron, a member of Innovation Campus staff, died March 28 in his home in Butler County. 

Cohron was born and raised in Bowling Green, graduating from WKU in 1979 with an Associate’s in Agricultural Engineering. For the past 20 years, he served as the Research Support Coordinator for the WKU Applied Research and Technology Program and Innovation Campus.

Within Innovation Campus, he also oversaw research through the Advanced Materials Institute and the NOVA Non-Destructive Analysis Center, where he solely helped operate the Large Chamber Scanning Electron Microscope.  

Outside of Innovation Campus, Cohron worked alongside WKU’s agriculture faculty and was honored as WKU’s Agriculture and Food Science department “Friend of the Year.” He also traveled internationally several times to support WKU’s research efforts.

In his time working with Cohron, CEO of Innovation Campus, Buddy Steen knew him as an incredible and naturally curious problem-solver. He said that Cohron was also an irreplaceable member of the Innovation Campus family. 

“(It’s) very hard to find people like him, he was a good person, a good man,” Steen said. “We’re devastated.”
