Julie Sisler, Herald features editor, met her boyfriend Jake Donohue on Tinder. “We went on a coffee date and then I showed him a record shop I love,” Sisler said. “We spent hours talking about music and movies and going off on random little tangents. It felt so natural to be with him.”

Alison Taylor, 27, owner of Little Fox Bakery, opened up her bakery that she has been planning for years about three months ago located on East Main ave. Taylor features different varieties of baked goods including cookies, macaroons, homemade oreos, homemade poptarts, and her specialty in cupcakes which come in many unique flavors. Taylor plans on updating the bakery space by adding artwork by local artists and experimenting on creating more unique sweets.

Leslie Nichols, 39, of St. Louis, Mo., is showcasing her gallery "In Her Words" at the Downing Museum. Nichols has been working on the art gallery for two and a half years and has been an artist for 17 years. The gallery showcases pieces that consist of woman who are working for positive changes in the community and that are passionate in different issues in the area. The larger pieces were made from words from interviews Nichols conducted with the women from oil based ink and acrylic paint. The smaller pieces were either acrylic paint or created by a type writer.

Sophomore Darinda Reddick, 20, has taken her hobby of creating art and turned it into a way to advocate for issues that matter to her. The focuses of Reddick's art are feminism, political and social issues and supporting black women. "I always try to represent black art, because most black art doesn't get represented a lot in the media especially black women and who we are... beautiful, smart and independent," Reddick said.
