JONESBORO, Ark. —WKU backup quarterback James Mauro threw two touchdown passes and led the Toppers to a 26-13 comeback win over Arkansas State on Saturday at Liberty Bank Stadium.

Mauro, a redshirt freshman, replaced Kawaun Jakes, who left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury.

Running back Antonio Andrews also had a career rushing day, running 29 times for 215 yards and a touchdown.

The WKU defense shut out Arkansas State in the second half after allowing 212 yards in the first half.

Arkansas State dominated the first half against WKU, out-gaining the Toppers 212-114 and taking a 13-0 lead to the locker room.
