The Lady Toppers can add another accolade to their growing list of achievements this year.

WKU has risen to No. 24 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll, the highest the school has ever been ranked and the first time it has breached the Top 25.

Head Coach Travis Hudson said the historic ranking can be attributed to everyone who has worked with the program over the years.

“My first year here we finished 298th in the country, so it’s been quite a journey to get here,” Hudson said. “It’s been the work of a lot of people in and around the program through the years.”

WKU was No. 26 for the second time this season in last week’s AVCA poll.

The Lady Toppers rose to No. 21 in the latest RPI poll, also the highest the team has ever been in that poll.

WKU (31-3) was able to rise in the poll after winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Miami on Saturday. The three wins the Lady Toppers got in the tournament increase their current winning streak to 10 matches.

By winning the conference tournament, WKU has earned an automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

The selection show for the NCAA Tournament will air on ESPNU at 5 p.m. Sunday. The Lady Toppers will be hosting a viewing party at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Scottsville Road.
