James L. Brown, a theater professor and 37-year veteran on the Hill, was recently named the faculty athletics representative. Brown will also serve as the chairman of the WKU Athletics Committee.

The representative is responsible for maintaining a balance between athletics and academics and making sure Western serves as a spokesperson for the NCAA.

Brown has been involved with numerous sports on the Hill, including swimming and men’s soccer. He has worked with the swim team for 15 years, videotaping meets and traveling with the team. Brown’s son, Steven, was a four-year letterwinner on the Hilltopper soccer team.
