Fifth-year senior Bailey Curry was named Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday after her outstanding performance at the Hilltopper Classic this past weekend.

Curry earned the honor after just her second week of playing for WKU. She transferred in from the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in the summer of 2021.

This past weekend the Hilltoppers went 5-0, winning the tournament championship with the help of Curry while helping the team improve to an overall record of 8-1 on the young season. Curry had at least one hit and brought in at least one RBI in her past five games, slashing .600/.667/.933 throughout tournament play.

Curry showed up at the plate in the Hilltopper Classic, going 9-for-15 with 12 RBIs, drawing three walks and never striking out. She finished the weekend going 1-for-3 against Southeastern Missouri, including a base hit to set off her team’s five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The award is the first for the Hilltoppers this season and the seventh in program history.

Curry and her teammates will be back in action this upcoming weekend in the Hilltopper Spring Fling starting Friday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m at the WKU Softball Complex.
