National Signing Day took place across College Football Wednesday. The Hilltoppers brought in some relatively high profile players as three three-stars committed to play at Western Kentucky.

The Hilltoppers gained five commitments on signing day to go along with one prior commitment.

The new signees will be joining running back Oliver Lundberg Coleman in the WKU Football 2023 recruiting class. Coleman signed with the Hilltoppers in July out of RIG Academy in Sweden.

Among those who signed Wednesday, offensive tackle Darell Johnson Jr. is WKU’s highest rated signing. Johnson Jr. is coming in as the 12th highest rated offensive tackle among junior college transfers, according to 247 Sports.

WKU also brought in two wide receivers on signing day. The first being Jarvis Hayes out of Waycross, GA, and the second being Koron Hayward from Jacksonville, Florida.

Hayward comes out of Sandalwood High School as a three-star recruit and the 235 highest rated wide receiver in his class.

Additionally, the Hilltoppers added two defensive players. Linebacker RJ Evans joined the Hilltoppers out of Hutchinson community college in Colony, AL. Cornerback Nazir Ward also joined the Hilltoppers out of Northwestern High School in Miami, FL.

Ward was the third of the Hilltoppers three-stars and is ranked as the 141st best cornerback in his class.

These new recruits will be joining current talent at WKU in 2023. Graduate Quarterback Austin Reed and top receiver sophomore Malachi Corley headline a long list of players returning to the Hill next season.
