Former WKU Basketball Head Coach Rick Stansbury will receive payments from the university following his resignation.

Stansbury will receive $500,000 from WKU over the next 12 months. WKU and Stansbury agreed to these terms for his contract extension given in October 2022.

The contract that was set to last until June 2026 was terminated after Stansbury’s resignation earlier this month. Stansbury was replaced by former Texas A&M Corpus-Christi Head Coach Steve Lutz.

WKU struggled during the Stansbury era, especially in March. While the Hilltoppers came close in 2017-18 and 2018-19, WKU failed to reach the NCAA tournament in the seven years Stansbury was at the helm. WKU only won one C-USA regular season title under Stansbury.
