Former WKU center Jamarion Sharp announced his transfer to the University of Mississippi Thursday, April 27.

Sharp, the reigning C-USA defensive player of the year, was a major piece in the Hilltopper lineup over the past two years. He led the nation in blocks and blocks per game during the 2022-23 season.

Sharp is the last domino to fall from last season’s initial starting lineup. Luke Frampton, Jairus Hamilton and Emmanuel Akot all played their last year of eligibility during the 2022-23 campaign. Guard Dayvion McKnight left the Hilltopper program via the portal and will continue his college career at Xavier.

New head coach Steve Lutz faces the tough challenge of rebuilding the WKU roster. Lutz has already used the transfer portal bringing in a former player of his, redshirt senior Brandon Newman from Purdue. Newman averaged six points and three rebounds a game last year with the Boilermakers.
