WKU senior guard, Aaliyah Pitts, catches a pass during the game against UTEP in E.A. Diddle Arena on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024. WKU won 66-65.

WKU womens basketball went into their three-game conference road trip at 13-7 overall and 4-1 in Conference-USA play.

Since the team left Bowling Green, WKU has failed to win a game, falling to 13-10 and an even 4-4 against conference opponents.

With a chance to salvage the stay away from home against rival Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, the Lady Toppers took their worst loss of the trip, 80-48.

The game got away from the Lady Toppers in the first quarter. Although WKU was able to keep the game close within the first few minutes, MTSU quickly pulled away, finishing the period on an 18-3 run, making it 22-8 headed into the second.

The second quarter was more of the same. MTSU out scored WKU 18-14 in the period, leading to a 40-22 halftime score.

It was the same story throughout the second half as the Lady Toppers were outscored 40-26 in the third and fourth quarter.

Senior guard destiny Salary gave it her all in the loss. Salary tallied 17 points and five rebounds. She was the only Lady Topper to reach double digit points on the night.

WKU will look to bounce back when they host Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
