WKU Men’s Basketball will look to rebound Saturday as they end their two-game road stretch with a trip to play the Jacksonville State Gamecocks.
The last time the Hilltoppers played the top team in the conference, they took down Liberty 71-70 on Jan. 2. Now they will travel to play the top-ranked Gamecocks, who sit at 16-7 overall and 8-2 in conference play.
JSU has earned its top spot. They have won seven straight games, with their last loss being Jan. 4 to Middle Tennessee State, where the Blue Raiders took them down 81-64.
JSU is led by guard Jaron Pierre Jr., who averages 21 points per game, the most in Conference USA. He is coming off a monster 36-point night on 10-12 shooting from beyond the arc in the team’s 77-63 win over MTSU.
The Gamecocks rank second in the conference in opponent field goal percentage and first in team free-throw percentage. They rank second in CUSA in team rebounds and opponent rebounds allowed, and rank second in assist-to-turnover ratio.
WKU is 3-7 on the road this season and JSU is 10-0 at home. These two teams last met in Diddle Arena on Jan. 9, with the Gamecocks getting the win 73-67. The Hilltoppers lead the all-time series 5-1.
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. The game can be watched on ESPN +
