The WKU Department of Music will welcome the U.S. Air Force jazz band to perform on Tuesday, March 23, in the Downing Student Union auditorium at 7 p.m.
The USAF Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble is part of the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America that travels throughout the region. The ensemble performs a wide range of jazz styles, including swing, bebop, modern and traditional jazz, according to their website.Â
Shades of Blue has performed at major venues nationwide, including playing the national anthem for the Chicago White Sox baseball and the Chicago Bulls basketball teams.Â
Students and community members can expect contemporary jazz alongside the sounds of classic composers. Several of the performers are also composers, and original work is often included in performances. Tuesday’s performance is free admission and open to the public. Those interested can reserve their ticket here.
