WKU Football announced Sunday that they will compete against the Old Dominion Monarchs in the 2023 Famous Toastery Bowl on Monday, Dec. 18.

The Hilltoppers will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to face the Monarchs at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. CT.

WKU will take on Old Dominion on ESPN. The Hilltoppers last bowl game was also aired on ESPN when WKU beat South Alabama 44-23 in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl in 2022.

The year prior, WKU defeated Appalachian State 59-38 in the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. Former WKU quarterback Bailey Zappe set the NCAA record for most passing yards in a single season in the contest.

The invitation to the Famous Toastery Bowl marks WKU’s fifth straight season in a bowl game and the program’s 10th bowl game in the past 12 seasons.

The Monarchs, out of the Sun Belt conference, enter the contest with a 6-6 record, while the Hilltoppers stand at 7-5 out of C-USA

The last meeting between the two teams came during the 2021 season. WKU defeated Old Dominion 43-20 at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, Virginia.
