The Student Government Association passed Bill 15-24-F to allocate $374 for the “Giving Thanks November” event.
This is the last fundraiser for the Potter Children’s Home Initiative this semester which seeks to help children and families in need. The previous fundraiser for the Potter Children’s Home was the “SGA Spooktober” where ticket revenue from a Halloween movie screening went towards the initiative.
There will be multiple tables with various activities and games with the help of the Zeta Epsilon Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at “Giving Thanks November.” SGA will also provide cupcakes, lemonade and food from Panera Bread.
The main part of the event will be a raffle with the chance to win a 9th-generation iPad and a $100 Spencer’s Coffee basket. It will be $10 for the iPad raffle, $5 for the Spencer’s raffle or $12 for both.
“As you guys know, I’ve been working with the Potter Children’s Home this semester,” Jade Ismail, author of the bill, said. “We want to give thanks to people and interact with the community.”
The event will be held on Wednesday, November 20th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. It will be located in the Downing Student Union lobby.
Chief Justice Ellen Henderson reminded the senate of the attendance requirements following the censure of 3 SGA senators during the prior meeting.
Henderson also announced that she will appoint Associate Chief Justice Morgan Gammons as Chief Justice at the next meeting since Henderson will graduate this semester.
