WKU Women’s basketball will look to get back on track Thursday as they host Kennesaw State.
The Lady Topppers are coming off a loss on the road to New Mexico State which snapped a six-game win streak. WKU still holds third place in the Conference USA standings with a 6-3 record in the conference.
Several players have continued to step up in the absence of others, as the Lady Toppers have had six leading scorers in 21 games this season.
“Our depth is starting to be more productive,” Head Coach Greg Collins said. “You’re seeing improved play from those players.”
Senior guard Alexis Mead leads the Lady Toppers in scoring with 13.2 points per game. Mead is set to move into ninth all-time at WKU in career starts (114). Mead is fifth all-time in career steals with 226, eighth in career assists with 424, tied for 10th in career starts (114), and 29th in all-time scoring with 1,225 career points.
Kennesaw State comes into the game on a two-game losing streak, dropping them to seventh in the C-USA standings. The Owls are strong on the defensive end, holding teams to 25.9% from behind the arc, the 19th-best mark in the country.
The Owls are led by Prencis Harden, averaging 16.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. She is second in the conference in scoring.
