WKU Women’s Basketball will look to continue its hot streak Saturday as the Lady Toppers start their three-game road trip against Middle Tennessee State.
The Lady Toppers have won eight of their last nine games, with the only loss coming at New Mexico State. WKU still holds third place in the conference but could make up significant ground with a win on the road this weekend.
Senior guard Alexis Mead is coming off an exhilarating performance against Jacksonville State, scoring a career-high 29 points and nine rebounds. Mead leads the Lady Toppers in points, scoring 14 a game. Senior guard Destiny Salary (12.3) and junior guard Acacia Hayes (12.0) follow closely in scoring.
MTSU is on a six-game winning streak and has won 10 of their last 11. However, their one loss in that span is to the Lady Toppers.
The Blue Raiders are led by junior guard Ta’Mia Scott, who averages 16.5 and almost seven rebounds a game. Scott scored 25 points earlier this season versus the Lady Toppers. Senior center Anastasiia Boldyreva dominates the glass, averaging 15 points and 9.8 rebounds a game.
“They’re a great defensive team,” Collins said. “They control the pace of the game with their defense, so we have to take care of the ball.”
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
