The Feminist Student Union (FSU) is holding its fourth annual Period Product Drive to collect menstrual products and toiletry items to donate to Barren River Area Safe Space (BRASS).
BRASS is “a non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and their children escape their situations and live better lives” in Bowling Green, according to its website.
“Period poverty is such a big issue for these women,” Sophie Jerome, FSU vice president, said.
FSU Networking Coordinator Meredith Campbell said that one of the drive’s goals is to connect students with the local community beyond WKU’s campus.
Donating to the drive is an easy way to get involved in the community, especially for people who are unsure how to get involved locally, Campbell said.
“ It really is going to leave an impact,” Ella Bryant, president, said.
Donations, including menstrual products, lotion, hair brushes, shampoo, conditioner, textured hair products and body wash, can be dropped off anytime in a box at the Downing Student Union (DSU) circulation desk.
Donations will also be accepted at the WKU Earth Day Celebration on April 25, the final day of the drive. Monetary donations can be sent through Venmo to @J1carner.
