Downtown BGKY and Bowling Green Parks & Recreation will host Scare on the Square this Saturday, Oct. 25 in Fountain Square Park.
The event will feature businesses in the Square offering free trick-or-treating and other activities for kids from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., soundtracked by a live DJ.
This year, the event will include a kids’ book drive, put on by Eagle Scout Justine Hester in partnership with Downtown Bowling Green and Toys for Tots. Attendees are encouraged to donate new or gently used children’s books, which will be donated to local elementary schools.
There will also be local food trucks including LA Burgers, Wrap & Roll, Tacos Way and PopWorks.
A kids’ Halloween costume contest will commence at 3:30 p.m..
At 4 p.m., as festivities come to a close, Ryan Dearbone, WKU assistant professor of broadcasting, and Bonita Dearbone, Bowling Green Parks & Recreation aerobics coordinator, will hold their third annual community “Thriller” dance, featuring the hit 1982 song by Michael Jackson.
