Bowling Green Police issue arrest warrant for suspect in homicide of WKU student

Malik Jones holds an active warrant for arrest for the murder of Ayanna Morgan, police said.

The Bowling Green Police Department released the name and mugshot of the suspect in the homicide of Ayanna Morgan on Sunday.

Morgan, a 21-year-old WKU student, was shot Sunday night at Muse Bowling Green, a WKU student apartment complex. She was airlifted to a hospital in Nashville and passed away the next morning.

An active arrest warrant was issued for Malik Jones on Tuesday, July 25 for the murder of Morgan, police said. Jones has previous criminal charges, including handgun possession of a convicted felon and drug possession.

BGPD considers Jones armed and dangerous and urges others not to approach him, but to call 911.
