Kentucky State Police will close all four lanes of University Boulevard from Russellville Road to Morgantown Road Wednesday morning, according to an email from WKU Parking and Transportation, to process a shooting that happened early Sunday morning.
Bowling Green Police Department officer Melissa Bailey told the Herald that KSP requested the lanes be shut down while it helps BGPD investigate Sunday’s “assault/shooting.” The lanes will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m., according to the email, and will “cause congestion and delays throughout campus.”
At 3:47 a.m. Sunday, a WKU Alert said that there was an ongoing investigation at University Boulevard, Russellville Road and Morgantown Road. At 6:23 a.m. Sunday, a follow-up alert said there was no threat to campus and at 11:43 a.m., all lanes were opened again.
Twenty-year-old Christopher Meza Ramirez has been charged in connection with the shooting, Bailey said. According to an arrest report, Ramirez was charged with 1st Degree Assault on Sunday. Bailey said it is still an ongoing investigation.
